What Design Can't Do
Editorial, Publication, BookA 300-page book, typographic & editorial design for Silvio Lorusso's What Design Can't Do: Essays on Design and Disillusion. The book blends academic critique with internet native self deprecation, exploring the gap between a designer's expectations and everyday reality.
2 Typographic Voices:
Freight Neo for Headings, conversational and legible, carries the voice of the "everyday designer." Freight Sans for body text and footnotes lets vernacular interruptions, memes and tweets, sit naturally within a rigid grid.
Drawing on design theory and internet vernacular, the project reframes typography as argument, mirroring the book's oscillation between theoretical critique and self deprecating humor.
